An Ifa priest, Yemi Elebuibon, has declared that any man who sleeps with the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, Zaynab Otiti-Obanor, faces death. Mr. Elebuibon, who is also an actor, declared the consequence of a queen separating from a king in an interview with The Sun. The leader of the Indigenious People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu has been declared wanted by a rival pro-Biafra group, the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra Rebranded, IPOBR. IPOBR declared Nnamdi Kanu wanted for “betraying the struggle” for Biafra as laid down by late warlord, Odumegwu Ojukwu. The group accused Kanu of bringing public hatred on the entire Igbo race through his utterances and actions. Veteran actor Kasimu Yero has died in Kaduna on Sunday at the age of 70. The deceased’s eldest son, Mansur Kasimu Yero, told NAN in Kaduna that his father died at his residence in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, after a protracted illness. NAN reports that Yero, who was buried at Bachama Road Cemetry in Kaduna, is survived by eight children. Yero would be fondly remembered for his role as ‘Uncle Gaga’ in the now rested ’80s situational comedy, Cock Crow At Dawn, and as one of the lead characters in Abubakar Imam’s TV series, Magana Jari Ce. The deceased was one of the early popular northern faces in Nigeria’s entertainment industry and had the flair of interpreting humorous scripts. The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), through tax collections, generated the sum of N2.11 trillion as revenue from January to July, 2017. This is contained in a progress report of the FIRS from Jan. to July, 2017 obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, showing their revenue performance and impact of the new tax regime. The aggregate revenue projected in the 2017 budget is N4.94 trillion, out of which oil revenue will contribute N1.98 trillion. This is based on an estimated crude oil production of 2.2 mbpd converted at an exchange rate of N305 to a dollar. Non-oil revenue for the year is projected at N1.37 trillion, which represents about 28 per cent of the budgeted revenue. Independent revenues, various recoveries and mining will account for the balance of about N1.58 trillion. A breakdown of the report showed that the FIRS from January to July this year collected N720.28 billion as Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT) while the Value Added Tax (VAT) revenu...

Akwa Ibom Governor, Udom Emmanuel, says Nigeria’s Super Eagles’ victory on Friday against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon was a result of “fasting and prayer”. The Eagles walloped the Lions 4-0, in their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo. The National Publicity Secretary of the Inter-Party Council, IPAC, Yakubu Shendam, on Sunday threatened legal action against President Muhammadu Buhari for meeting with only the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC. Buhari had last week met with leadership of both parties at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. But Shendam, who is the National Chairman of New Generation Party of Nigeria, NGP, wondered why the President had failed to invite other political parties, numbering over 40, to the meeting. The Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay has stated that the Economic and Financial Crimes commission, EFCC, recovers stolen money from the former minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke on daily basis. In a statement issued by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, Buhari said this while speaking to journalists at his country home after the Eid-el-Kabir prayers on Friday. “I am always pleased to see corps members in Daura and other parts of the country. From the postings, we get to learn more about other cultures,’’ he said. Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has criticized President Muhammadu Buhari, over  his response to the Benue flood that has rendered many homeless. Fani-Kayode labelled the President’s reaction as “weak and pathetic”.
